This is for anyone whose bathroom light feels harsh, dim or patchy and who wants to fix the cheap things before spending on fixtures. The audit takes about 30 minutes, and bulb swaps take about 10 minutes each.

Why this order
Bulbs come first because they are the cheapest and most effective change. Fixture ratings and outlets come next because water and electricity make them a safety question. Turn the fixture off at the switch and let a bulb cool before touching it. Anything inside the wall or switch box is a job for a licensed electrician. Renters can do the bulb and plug-in steps, but should check the lease before changing fixtures.
